The Style of The Kitchen
When people begin to think about remodeling their homes, or specific parts of their homes, they often think about kitchen remodeling. Sometimes though, people think of a kitchen remodel and they think one of two things; wow this is going to be fun, or holy cow this is going to be stressful and overwhelming. Honestly, I think the only reason people find a kitchen remodel to be stressful and overwhelming, are the people that don’t plan ahead, they don’t stick to budget, they don’t plan what they want to do before they ever call someone in to do the remodeling, and they have no clear idea of what they want to keep versus what they want changed. So if you want a "wow this is going to be fun" attitude, think about having a clear plan - and make sure no matter what, that you stick to your budget! If later on down the line you have more money for the budget for that specific project i.e.; crown molding on the ceiling or that built in chair bench you always wanted in the foyer, then you can worry about those projects, but for now, just change what you can, with the money you have. I know most people would say splurge, but splurging often leads to regret and regret leads to stress and worry! That’s not what this project should be about! If you want some cool ideas on kitchen remodeling in Princeton, styles, types of trends, or what's popular this year, continue to read the fun blog below!
Go Metallic!
There tend to be two types of people when it comes to hardware, lighting or fixtures in their house - they either love what they have and want to keep it the same, or they hate what they have and want it changed. If you love what you have now, awesome, keep it the same when you do your kitchen remodel. But, if you hate what you have - that’s okay too, because there are many different options to choose from in terms of fixtures and hardware including wood fixtures, silver, gold, bronze and copper hardware, and more. As far as trends go though, copper and bronze are becoming very popular this year and will carry over to the next few years, forecasts say this trend will most likely last until at least 2020. Copper and bronze, unlike silver, both have a very warm and inviting feel to them. Gold is also another popular material, but bronze and copper out beat it.
Painted Cabinets
Painted cabinets are really cool because essentially you can take a pair of cabinets you have now, sand them down, refinish them and paint them - this is important for some homeowners, that don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on cabinetry all over again or they like what they have now and are just looking for a quick change. Painted cabinets are incredibly easy to do, and you can pick any color you want for your cabinets. If you want to keep your cabinets and paint them, but you also want them to look a little more different, consider adding see through glass doors on the fronts of the cabinets, these are also becoming very popular because they represent organization, cleanliness and they give a certain sense of openness to the room.
Luxury Custom Made Countertops
Let’s be honest, if you want to go cheap, you’ll do something like a Formica countertop - this material is considered the lowest rung on the ladder. Formica countertops are pretty easy to clean, but cutting on them or placing a hot pot on them, is bad news! Instead, if you cook a lot or you have kids, why not consider a luxury natural stone countertop for all your counters? Natural stone comes in quite a few different materials, colors, styles, sizes, etc. You can choose from natural stone such as marble, quartz, granite, etc. You can also choose from wood as a natural material or polished stainless steel countertops. Luxury made countertops do cost a little more, but if you can afford it in your budget for your kitchen remodel I would say go for it!
